[Case Study P001] Lenormand Personal Reading: Gentleman- Garden-Book| Why the Heating Didn’t Turn On on November 1st

Case Background

Question: Will the heating be turned on in the residential community on November 1st?

Case Background: In October, the government issued news through media channels, announcing that it had urged all heating providers to ensure that heating would be available by November 1st.

Card Spread: Topic – Does What – How

Lenormand Cards Drawn: Gentleman – Garden – Book

Actual Outcome: Heating was not turned on in the community on that day.

What the Gentleman Card (Topic) Tells Us

The Gentleman card here isn’t pointing to a single person. Obviously, one person can’t make an entire city’s heating work. Even if someone has the authority to make decisions, they still need others to actually carry out the steps.

For public affairs like this, the Gentleman represents a named responsible person or a point of contact. This “Gentleman” could be the heating company responsible for the community or someone handling communication and coordination about heating matters.

Since it’s in the Topic position and it’s a person card (not an object like the Tower), it signals that the main issue is about people and responsibility, not a technical problem.

What the Garden Card (Does What) Tells Us

The Garden card is all about public space, social visibility, and interaction.

In this case, it shows that the heating issue is a public matter, handled in a way that people can see and know about.

Can this also include the government posting news online? Absolutely! Even though the Garden isn’t specifically a “network” card, it’s about things being visible to the public. So the government’s news reminding heating providers fits perfectly—it’s basically putting the issue on a public stage.

What the Book Card (How) Tells Us

The Book card represents documents, procedures, paperwork, or official files.

It tells us the process is being handled through formal channels, not direct action. Combined with the first two cards, the Book suggests that the heating wasn’t turned on because the necessary procedures weren’t fully completed—maybe something was waiting for approval or a signature.

A common way to interpret the Book is: “stuck in paperwork.”

Putting It All Together

So, when we combine the three cards:

  • Someone responsible (the Gentleman) is handling paperwork or procedures in a public context (Garden) using official channels/documents (Book).

In plain English: the heating wasn’t on November 1st not because the boiler was broken or the network wasn’t connected, but because it was stuck in process and paperwork.

Conclusion

  • This wasn’t a technical issue—it was procedures not completed in time.
  • It wasn’t a case of heating being on but not reaching your home.
  • The fact that heating didn’t come on November 1st matches perfectly with the “stuck in paperwork” reading.

Comparing the Cards to the Government Announcement

The government said heating providers should ensure conditions are ready. That’s a plan or statement, not the same as actual execution.

So the community not having heating on November 1st doesn’t mean the government lied. The three Lenormand cards also support this: the issue was visible and planned, but not yet fully implemented.

A Little Question to Think About

Desk

Now, since the Book represents paperwork and delays, what if we replaced it with the Letter card instead? The Letter usually points to clear messages or notifications.

If the spread were Gentleman – Garden – Letter, would heating be turned on on November 1st?
We’ll explore the answer in our next divination blog!
